Sketch Dump and Update

     So I am thinking about chancing the name of the manga officially to The Realm of Aereningate, but I am still experimenting a little bit with the name. It's so stressful trying to keep up with this and change it all, but I feel that if I don't change things that it will seem too childish, since I came up with the concept as a child.

     Anyways, I made a quick sketch dump. Hopefully you'll enjoy.

     Just messing around with some new designs for the characters. I am definitely leaving Kaeru the way she is. For sure. I like Yolei's design a lot more now, but I am still skeptical about Ai's design. Verice and Bionca have a special place in my heart, I don't think I will ever change anything about them, because I remember how hard I worked to create them in the first place. The same goes for Yaso and Miki as well. I think I have perfected Miki's hair style well enough, so I will leave her alone. I also worked on a design for one of the bird people. I made her a while back, maybe two years ago, but I never got around to giving her a name. But I gave her sister a name. Strange. Lai is looking spot on, and so is Yolei. I doodled Taki's jellyfish, and a few of the creatures from the series. The one with the flower on it's head is used most often as a light source. As shown in the picture with Hex's demon. Lai is looking spot on, and so is Yolei.

     Taki's jelly fish design, looking cute and deadly. I think I want the blades to be hidden for the majority of time, until it needs to fight. And there is a rough draft for the little flower creature. But if you can see, the bottom of the lantern is one of those creatures upside-down in the lantern, it's used as a fire-source.

     Like so ^^^^ So I guess the concept is that the creature, once flipped upside-down, goes into a deep sleep and the flower continues to burn while the creature sleeps. It was a strange idea, but it makes me laugh so I think I am going to keep it.

     Anyways I should probably get back to my big project I was working on and stop messing around.

New Yolei Design

     I had to take a break from re-designing Kaeru, so I threw this together for Yolei. I kind of really like this. A lot more than her original design. I still have to do some designs of her without the short cloak, and I have to design her shoes a bit better. I wanted her to look more, I don't know, upper-class? (Although her upper-class looks come from Lila Light-Feather's wealth, not her own.) I wanted her and Lila to have similar clothing styles. Hence the use of pastel colors.

Photoshop CC?

Hey everyone,

     So surprisingly my parents bought me the Intuos Pro Wacom Tablet and Photoshop CC, which is crazy because I completely did not expect that at all. I just wanted some cash to buy some more ink pens, and save up for my plane ticket. But hey! It was an awesome gift and I am super happy about it, because now I can actually attempt to make some (semi decent) "quality" art.

     I only have the trial version of Photoshop CC, and it has been at least 5 years since I have used Photoshop for anything at all. So my skills are super rusty and I had to watch at least 3 hours of tutorials just to do basic stuff. But anyways. I have some old art, and new art to post in the next journal entry, once I actually scan it and get it  onto my PC.

So as I stated before I am changing a lot about this manga, especially the title, and I am thinking hard about whether or not I want to change some of the names of the main characters, (although that would throw off a lot of things, but you know, I made this when I was 13, a lot has changed in 5 years.) So if I end up doing that, I apologize to anyone who actually followed this blog and read my posts, or kept up with the characters in any way. <3

Character Designs 2014

     So like I said, I did make some drawings over the past year, but none of these are recent and I apologize, none of these designs are final, they are still a huge work in progress, I am also thinking about changing the name of the manga to something else. But that will have to be done after a lot of long thinking and planning on my part. So don't be surprised if my URL changes any time soon. 

I used my tablet for all of these by the way, it's a really crappy software called IbisPaint, but it worked for the time being since I didn't have a laptop.

It's been a year and a half, and I apologize.

     So I have still been working on this comic, but with finals last year and starting college, and just finishing finals today, I took a break from blogging. A really long break. I also stopped working on my manga because I have gotten better at drawing, and I wanted to re draw some of the character designs. With that being said, I won't have school until the 26th of January, so I should hopefully have plenty of time to crank out some new character designs, and hopefully some rough drafts for the manga. Either that or I will just do some character biographies, since I have barely done anything to explain the characters. I will most likely only redraw the main characters, and not the secondary characters, but hey, that's a lot in the amount of time I have, unless I work to do two a day.. lord what am I saying I just need to draw. No planning.

• Anyhow, I am in painful need of new art supplies, such as a new bottle of ink (since my wonderful cat Mikan had the privilege of knocking it over and spilling the contents of it onto one of my drawings which I worked SO DAMN HARD on)
• I need pencils, which is sad because I should be using them to write with in class. ( I end up searching rooms for lost pencils, or pens even.)
• I bought like, two sketch books and a 72 pack of colored pencils because all of my pencils are the length of my pinky. 
• I really need new ink pens, and I need new ink brushes too. Along with white ink as well. (racking up the money lololol)
• And I am going to beg my parents for photoshop, since students get a discount anyways. 

     So yeah. I have been working with what I have available to try and make art, I did a lot of tablet art on my ipad, (maybe a little less than a year ago, so none of them are recent.) I'll post those in a separate entry though.

     I really want to work hard to update this blog as often as I can, because I got really lazy with it last year and I kind of regret it, because I could have progressed so much more as an artist. So even if it is just a crummy doodle, I will try to upload it. Haha. 

     The pictures that I will post will be new character designs and old designs as well. I changed some of the colors, and I changed the way Kaeru looked completely. So I have that going for me.

Anyways, that's all I really have to say for now.

Hey so I was gone for a while...

As you can see I sort of disappeared off the face of the earth for about 4 months. LOL

I have actually been in Holland for the past month and a half, so I haven't been drawing very much at all. But, before I left I drew a couple pictures and finished a rough draft landscaping for the manga, although I'll be re-making it because I don't like it as much as I thought I would haha. I don't have a scanner with me, but I took some pictures of them with my iPad, so I may be able to upload it that way, and then when I get home I'll scan them and re-upload them. I hope some people are still viewing my blog, and if you are I would love feed back either through a comment or an email (dykeskaylee2@gmail.com). ^^ I love any questions, comments, concerns, or recommendations.


Well of course, as I suspected I have to download another pointless app that allows me to upload my pictures. .-. Yippie. This may take a while. I'm installing Google Chrome. And another app that allows me to access my photos. This is so stupid. I don't recommend getting an iPad if you're an avid blogger or writer. I'd go with a windows tablet of some sort, because this is ridiculous. x.x Anywho let's try again.

Welp, this is Taki I sketched her real quick before I left for Holland. I really need to keep practicing with my drawings, It's starting to look sloppy.

And these two still don't have names... I'm going to think of some right now and make another entry later.... *cough*. They are both princesses. I screwed up on the elf princesses face, and the Northern Auqk princess turned out okay I guess. I have no confidence in my drawings anymore T.T it sucks. 

Anywho, I'll post more later. <3 

By the way, I used Kuretake ink and a G-pen nib. Along with Crayola colored pencils and a white gel pen.

Well, This sucks. :(

So uhm, as you can see, I haven't posted ANYTHING relating to art at all. :(

I admit that I have had plenty of time to actually draw, but for some reason lately I just can't seem to be able to pick up a pencil and draw something. I think I'm losing my ability to draw. :( I'm being honest, everything I seem to draw I end up crumpling up right after I'm done. So I'm really sorry to anyone who actually does check my blog and keeps up with it. :( I'll try to post some things soon. :( Hopefully once school is over I'll have more time to draw (and maybe this stupid artist block will be gone.)
     I have been trying to paint landscapes for the manga though, and it's turning out okay I guess. I'm starting to use Acrylic paints (my friend got me interested in it a few months go.) And I really like using them, but I get frustrated when they don't turn out right. So yeah, that's new. And I'll be gone for a good portion of the summer, I won't have a scanner so I don't know how I'll upload anything on here unless I want to use my camera. Haha. (I'll be in Holland for a while, like usual.)


But once again, I'm super sorry for not updating and posting pictures. I'll try really hard to become a better artist and yank myself out of this art block. :)) Hope to get some comments.
